Today, I went back
Usually on Wednesdays, I take a drive to the good ol’ USA for cheap gas and some Jack in the Box.
Instead (I have enough gas) I headed to the local Pho soup place, and then went and made a surefire lost investment in a 6/49 lottery ticket.
The soup was awesome, and I avoided the hassle of crossing the border.
I think the plan for today is nap, read, relax, and hanging around the net, and then later, some TV.
For the longest time I avoided watching much TV, but lately I’ve become rather enamoured of a few Television programs – oddly enough, they’re the “popular” type programs, rather than alternate programming that I watched for a long time. I think the biggest appeal is it’s a common interest between myself and my girlfriend, which is something that is generally scarce.
TV Schedule for the week:
Monday nights:
WWE RAW. It’s foolish and childish, and a lot of fun. Been a weekly follower of the program for 10 years. Before that, my last wrestling show was Saturday Night’s Main Event – I stopped watching for a long time.
CSI Miami. David Caruso is just too bizarre to miss.
Tuesday Nights:
I work late, so I miss “House” which is bizarre and fun. Awesome anti-hero doctor show.
Wednesday Nights:
CSI New York. The least likeable of the CSI family, because it can be a little dark and slow moving.
Thursday Nights:
Joey. Makes me laugh near tears most nights.
The O.C. Awesome characters – and funny. T & A too.
CSI. Unreal characters – so well written. As fake as most of it is, it has such unbelievable authenticity and dramatic appeal.
Friday Nights:
Is there anything good on?
Saturday Nights:
See Friday Nights
Sunday Nights:
Deperate Housewives. Fun, Silly, Stupid. Perfect for a mindless Sunday night.
Grey’s Anatomy. What ER should have been, only better.
The thing I like about TV is it gets me away from the computer, and into something I can share with my g/f – as lame as it may be. Since I’ve started watching TV again, I’ve also started going out of the house again – exploring Vancouver, Bellingham, Seattle, and the rest of the lower mainland and the pacific northwest.
I’ve also started reading again – which for years was my main passion… it’s still solitary for the most part, but the immersion into a good book is something that can’t be matched by Movies or TV… The imagination is a powerful thing, but it needs to be stirred up and stimulated – otherwise it begins to weaken and disappear.
Until I started doing all these things, I’d stopped dreaming in any sort of lucid way – now it’s like I’m a little kid again – vivid dreams that you wake up from and try as hard as you can to get back to the wonderland you’ve discovered.
