A Good Day

September 1st, 2009 Patrick 2 comments

how can you tell I had a good day?

I didn’t have time for a single blog entry…

woke up, walked the dog, showered, shaved, went for some food, then hopped over and picked up Charlotte… we went to Canadian Tire and Walmart seeking some camping stuff… only thing I managed to find were some shiny new metal tent pegs (the ones that came with my tent were plastic, and didn’t fare well the first time I used them)

Then we went to a theatre and decided to see Inglorious Basterds – small spoiler? SO fictional – nothing about it reflects reality, buy it was awesome. 5 stars for a fun movie. And gross.

Tarantino does gross so well.

Anyways, walk into the theatre, tell the lady I wanted 2 tickets for the movie, she tells me the price…. handed her my atm card, she swiped it like 5 times, didn’t register… I was all… worked 5 minutes ago, she says, just go inside.

SO… she let us in to the movie for free… not sure how the hell that happened, but I won’t argue with a free movie in a theatre.

we watched the movie, I dropped her off at home, then drove to the states to shop (surprise), and got me… An electric lantern for 40 that cost 80 here… a huge cooler for 38 that cost 80 here… then a bunch of groceries… came home, watched hell’s kitchen, and now it’s bedtime.

and that is why I didn’t update my blog – I pretended to have a life for a day :)

Blogging into Obscurity

August 29th, 2009 Patrick No comments

One of the things I notice as I wander the internet, browsing blogs written by people with more to say of more interest to the world than I generally come up with…

Well

They suffer the same kind of lack of blogging resolve as I do… I mean, the last week or so, I’ve made a point of updating every day, 3-5 times at least. Some is shlock, some is rant, some is thoughtful, and some is just intended to evoke thought.

But it isn’t easy, and I can understand why someone would get frustrated and just stop (see gaps of close to a year sometimes here)

Please, don’t fall into the trap.

The more you write, even if only for yourself, the more you’ll have to look back on. The more your writing techniques will evolve… the more substance you’ll have to offer others.

Write more.

Just don’t avoid dating, or family, or fun to do so… make a little time, write a little blog, make words tonight! ;)

How I Blog.

August 28th, 2009 Patrick No comments

I am, to put it bluntly, a reactionary blogger.

That is to say, when I discuss something with someone, and it elicits some form of reaction IN me, I find a way to put it into words, so I can share my thoughts – with whomever chooses to read what I write.

If you enjoy what I write, awesome, if you don’t – well, maybe I’ll improve with time, until then, thanks for the tolerance or at least, the friendly ignoring.

I don’t expect everyone to agree with me, I mean – you have every right to be wrong ;)

really, I write, natter, and generally poke fun at myself and the world I live in.

and THAT, my friends, is how I blog.

subject matter is entirely spontaneous, and without any planning or forethought – I could probably blog something every hour of every day, and I’d never run out of things to write about… I am constantly thinking, and it impairs, frequently, my ability to sleep.

People I know might actually dislike what I write, because it includes them – I mean, I think about people I care about often.

next up?

the sex blog…
